When the World Shakes, the Human Being Awakens

Throughout history we see a recurring pattern: When societies face major trials — wars, crises, catastrophes — people are forced out of their mental hiding places. What has been concealed, suppressed, or denied rises to the surface. This does not mean that war is desirable or good. It means that pressure reveals structures, both within individuals and within societies. In countries that have lived in long-term safety, a kind of mental rigidity can emerge. Norms, conformity, and silence take root. People dare less, think smaller, and stay within boundaries that no longer serve development. I believe in describing reality as it is — not to glorify its harshness, but to understand it. Only then can we stand firmly, think clearly, and be of help to those who truly want to grow. It is not the crisis itself that develops us. It is the encounter with ourselves when the crisis breaks apart what was false.
